My son, Madhavan, is just 2 years old.
But when he was 17 months old, we learned he has Gaucher’s disease, a rare genetic disorder that affects his body’s ability to break down certain fats. This disorder can lead to a buildup of these fats in various organs, causing damage and potentially life-threatening complications.
My husband works as a barber in the small village of Thimmampet, Jangoan District, Telangana. His earnings are modest, especially compared to what he might make in a larger city.
Now, the doctors say we need USD 32,468.00 to treat our son’s life-threatening condition, but we don’t know where to turn for help.
A few months ago, Madhavan started falling ill frequently.
He kept running a high fever and struggled to walk. These were followed by more signs when he couldn’t eat properly, and his stomach began to swell.
We rushed him to the nearby hospital in our hometown, where doctors conducted tests and diagnosed him with Gaucher’s disease.
But the words that followed next were far more devastating: “Madhavan needs to undergo a special treatment called HSCT, haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, to fix his immune system and stop his condition from getting worse. If he doesn’t get this treatment soon, he could die.”
I was heartbroken. It was hard to believe that something so terrible could happen to my child. But the financial aspect is far beyond the capacity of poor people like us.
My husband, who works as a barber and I tried everything to get the money for Madhavan’s treatment. We even asked our friends, relatives, and family for help, but no one could give us the support we needed.
We’ve done everything we can to find the money for our child’s treatment.
But it seems impossible. Madhavan’s stem cell transplant costs USD 32,468.00. We just can’t gather that much money quickly enough to save him.
Please, help us save our little boy’s life. Our family has already suffered so much. We can’t bear to lose our child too. Please contribute to save my child’s life, it’s a humble request from a devastated mother.
In short, People give gifts as a way of showing thoughtfulness, love and affection. When we give gifts, it brings joy or pleasure.
